The first named storm of the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season is making its way up the east coast.
Tropical Storm Arthur has sustained winds at 50 miles per hour, and is moving NNE at 16 miles per hour.
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for a portion of the North Carolina coast. Tropical storm force winds and heavy rains are expected there on Monday.
The National Hurricane Center says Dangerous coastal surf conditions and rip currents are expected to spread northward along the southeast U.S. coast to the mid-Atlantic states during the next few days.
Although Delmarva isn’t expected to receive a direct impact from Tropical Storm Arthur, the coastline from Virginia’s Eastern Shore to the Maryland-Delaware line could experience some light winds caused by the tropical activity.
