Cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continue to rise on Delmarva.
Delaware has 6,111 cases with nearly half of those in Sussex County, identified by Governor John Carney as a hotspot. Kent County has 963 cases.
Delaware is now reporting new statistics showing what percentage of the population is infected. For Sussex County, 154 per 10,000 people are infected. In Georgetown, the hardest hit zip code, 435 per 10,000 people are infected.
Maryland has 30,485 cases, adding over 1,000 cases in the last 24 hours. The Eastern Shore’s highest number of cases are in Wicomico County with 553 cases. Queen Anne’s County has 70, Caroline County has 107, Talbot County has 55, Dorchester County has 86, Worcester County has 98 and Somerset County has 41.
In Virginia, there are 22,342 cases with 463 in Accomack County on the state’s Eastern Shore.
While Delaware does not report county-by-county COVID-19 deaths, the state has 213 deaths attributed to the virus. Maryland has 1,453 deaths with 29 of those on the Eastern Shore. Of Virginia 812 deaths, 7 are in Accomack County.
