Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan and the Town Council have announced plans to reopen the beach, boardwalk and inlet parking lot this weekend.
Beginning on Saturday, May 9, the Mayoral Declaration will be lifting. Town officials say this will “give individuals more opportunities to get outside, expertise and enjoy fresh air, while still adhering to physical distancing guidance and gathering limits.”
In a joint statement, the Governor and Mayor’s offices said “This is a way to give nearby residents more opportunities to get outside and enjoy fresh air, while still adhering to social distancing guidelines and gathering limits. The governor’s stay-at-home order remains in effect.”
While Mayor Meehan’s order reopens the beach, boardwalk and inlet parking lot, all other aspects of his mayoral declaration, and of Governor Hogan’s stay-at-home executive order remain in effect.
