Ocean City Holding Citizen Police Academy

Ocean City, Md. (DELMARVA NEWS NOW) — The town of Ocean City is set to hold a citizen police academy, showcasing the inner workings of the police department to members of the community.

Applications are being accepted for the program running for ten weeks starting Tuesday, September 10th. Classes will take place once weekly from 6 to 9 p.m. Citizens will learn about the OCPD, build relationships and learn about traffic enforcement, evidence collection, firearms, arrest procedures and more. They will not only be taught by members of the Ocean City Police Department, but also members of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Department, Ocean Pines Police, Worcester County State’s Attorney’s Office and Maryland State Police.

The class is limited to 25 participants who must be at least 18 years old to participate.
