Annapolis, Md. (DELMARVA NEWS NOW) — Maryland state officials have announced this year’s tax-free shopping week in the “Old Line State.”
The second Sunday of August through the following Saturday is designated as Shop Maryland Tax-Free Week, focusing on apparel, footwear and backpacks for back to school shopping. Specifically, qualifying apparel and footwear of 100 dollars or less and the first 40 dollars of a backpack or book bag purchase is tax free. Accessory items are not included.
Tax free shopping week runs Sunday, August 11 through Saturday, August 17. The state also has a three day tax-free weekended in which state sales tax does not apply to Energy Star Products like air conditioners, washers and dryers, furnaces, heat pumps, LED bulbs, refrigerators and more.
