Maryland Superintendent Planned to Retire, Will Now Stay on Extra Year

The Maryland Board of Education has announced Dr. Karen Salmon, Superintendent of Maryland Public Schools has agreed, upon their request, to remain in her position for another year.

Dr. Salmon had planned to retire at the end of this school year, but will continue her service through June 30, 2021.

The State Department of Education released a statement saying in part “We are grateful that Dr. Salmon has agreed to continue serving Maryland’s Students during this National crisis.” They continued “the Board is ending the search for a new Superintendent.”
