Cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continue to rise on the Delmarva Peninsula.
Sussex, Kent, Wicomico and Accomack continue to lead the Peninsula in cases.
Delaware has 5,778 cases with nearly half of those located in Sussex County. The first state does not report deaths on a county-by-county basis, although the statewide death toll is at 193.
Maryland has 28,163 cases with 1,338 deaths. Governor Hogan says he likes the downward trend the state is seeing and if it continues he could lift the stay at home order and begin stage one of reopening the state.
Wicomico County’s case total continues to rise, likely due to increased testing of poultry workers including the testing of 2,300 people at Perdue Stadium in Salisbury over the weekend. Wicomico has the highest number of cases for any county of Maryland’s Eastern Shore, at 517 total cases.
In Virginia where there are 20,256 cases, Accomack County has 429 cases, substantial for a county with an estimated population of just 32,000.
