Governor Hogan to Make Announcement on Maryland’s Reopening on Wednesday

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan announced plans to hold a press conference at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13.

The event, taking place at the State House in Annapolis will be focused on the “Maryland Strong: Roadmap to Recovery” set in place by the Governor.

In a press conference last week, Governor Hogan said he would be prepared to lift the stay at home order and begin stage one of the roadmap to recovery this week, if hospitalizations continue their positive trend downward.

The state’s total hospitalizations have leveled off, now at approximately 1,500 total beds in use, with about 973 acute beds in use and 590 ICU beds in use.

The Governor says the state has made key progress on the four building blocks needed to begin a reopening.

“If these trends continue into next week, we will be ready to lift the stay at home order and to begin Stage One… That would mean the reopening of certain types of businesses and lower risk community, religious and quality of life activities.” Governor Hogan said during last week’s press conference.
