Despite Accomack County Extending Stay at Home Order, Chincoteague Set to Reopen at 25% Capacity

Chincoteague Island had planned a reopening coinciding with the state of Virginia, but after the Board of Supervisors got Governor Ralph Northam’s permission to delay Accomack County’s reopening, the town is modifying its plans.

Chincoteague Island is allowing hotels, short term rental properties and campgrounds to reopen at 25 percent capacity.

While Accomack County is tentatively scheduled to begin reopening on May 29, at the same time as other hard hit jurisdictions like the City of Richmond and Northern Virginia; Chincoteague Island officials say they anticipate reaching 100 percent capacity by the end of May.
