Delaware Sets June 1 as Target Date for Economic Reopening

In a Friday afternoon press conference, Delaware Governor John Carney announced June 1 as a target date for a phased reopening of the state’s economy.

Governor Carney said “All Delawareans – myself included – are ready to get our economy going again. But or response to COVID-19 has been drive by the science since Day 1 and will continue to be drive by the science.”

He continued “Ultimately our ability to move into Phase I at the beginning of next month will depend on our ability to contain COVID-19 hot spots in Sussex County, especially along the Route 113 corridor.”

Phase one of the reopening will include low risk activities and businesses, although officials will release a detailed plan next week.
