Delaware Postpones Presidential Primary to July 7

Delaware Governor John Carney has signed an additional modification to his State of Emergency declaration, rescheduling the state’s presidential primary.

The election is now scheduled for July 7, taking place primarily via absentee mail ballots.

Governor Carney said “Delawareans have a basic, fundamental right to vote, and these changes will allow Delaware voters to safely exercise that right.” He continued “We are making progress. Delawareans have helped flatten the curve by staying home, and by practicing social distancing when you’re out in public.”

The Delaware Department of Elections plans to operate at least six polling places in each county to allow voters to cast ballots in person if they don’t want to vote by absentee ballot.

School board elections have been rescheduled to July 21.
