Stevensville, Md. (DELMARVA NEWS NOW) — All lanes of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge have reopened after a tractor trailer overturned on the Eastbound span on Wednesday evening.
The Maryland Transit Authority says the incident happened around 7 p.m., forcing all lanes of the eastbound span to shutdown. Two way operations were then opened on the westbound span. Major traffic delays were caused, with upwards of a one mile backup reported around 11 p.m., even after regular traffic patterns resumed.
Earlier in the day high wind warnings were in effect on the bridge, which alerts house, box trailers and motorcycles to use caution when wind speeds gust in excess of 30 mph.
