Bloosurf plans rural expansion as it celebrates 10 year anniversary

A local internet service provider is celebrating their ten year anniversary with an open house and ribbon cutting event, but looking forward to their future.

Bloosurf Internet Services specializes in broadband internet access for rural communities. They have worked with the Delaware Department of Technology and Information to expand services to rural portions of Kent and Susssex Counties and received a $4.2 million award from the Federal Communications Commission to roll out high speed internet service on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

Michael Adelson, Sales and Marketing Manager for Bloosurf told Delmarva News Network “we want to make sure everyone has an equal chance to have internet service.” As they move forward into their next ten years he said “Bloosurf in the future is really planning on continuing to expand throughout Delmarva as well as even possibly further out to other states and really be able to help folks who are needing it.”

Specializing in “the unserved and underserved,” Bloosurf operates using cellular networks. They currently have towers in Seaford, Salisbury, Ocean Pines, Princess Anne, Snow Hill and Horntown, with expansions on the way in Deal Island, Taylor’s Island, Vienna, Pittsville and 13 towers in New Castle, Kent and Sussex Counties in Delaware.

At their open house and ribbon cutting, members of the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce and customers of Bloosurf are expected to attend. They’re located at 1222 Old Ocean City Road in Salisbury.
